Uber

Couldn't get a cab in Paris. Rage-built a global taxi.

The Uber for Ubers

Make my startup a legend
  1. 1 Paris, 2008. Snow. No cabs.
  2. 2 One tap, a black car.
  3. 3 San Francisco gets the first fleet.
  4. 4 2010: city tells them to stop.
  5. 5 They drop the word cab. Keep going.
  6. 6 City by city, regulators chase.
  7. 7 Then came surge pricing.
  8. 8 Every pitch since: Uber for X.

The story

Camp pitched a black car service for San Francisco after he and Kalanick brainstormed at a conference in Paris in late 2008. It launched there in 2010 as UberCab, then fought regulators city by city on the way to going public in 2019.
